Blizzard plans to grant every WoW: Forever beta tester 16 Legacy points

In a future beta week, all testers will receive 16 Legacy points so the system can be tested without grinding classes and dungeons first. Blizzard expects the grant to stay in place until the beta ends.

Every tester in the WoW: Forever beta is getting a head start on the Legacy system. Community Manager Kaivax posted on 1 October 2026 that Blizzard plans to hand all beta testers 16 Legacy points in a future week of the beta, so the system can be tested by people who have not spent their evenings levelling alt after alt.

The reason is refreshingly practical. Blizzard says it has noticed more and more testers grinding specifically for Legacy points over the first two weeks of the beta:

KaivaxCommunity Manager

Over the first two weeks of the WoW Forever Beta, we’ve seen an increasing number of testers pushing to earn points in the Legacy system.

In a future week of the Beta, we’re planning to grant all testers 16 Legacy points so that the system can be tested without first requiring a great deal of leveling different classes, clearing dungeons, etc.

Once applied, we expect to keep that grant in place until the end of the Beta.

That grinding is exactly the problem. Legacy points come from playing broadly, and the post names levelling different classes and clearing dungeons as examples. That is great for a live game, where earning points is the long-term hook, but bad for a test, where Blizzard needs feedback on the perks themselves. A system that only a handful of the most dedicated testers have reached produces very little useful data. Sixteen free points means many more players can actually spend them, compare choices and report how the perks feel in practice.

A few things the post does not say. There is no date for the grant beyond "a future week", and Kaivax does not explain whether the 16 points are added on top of points testers have already earned or act as a baseline. If you have been pushing hard for points, it is worth waiting to see how the grant lands on your account before drawing conclusions.

The last line matters too: once the grant is applied, Blizzard expects to keep it in place until the end of the beta. In other words, this is not a one-weekend test window. Beta characters created after the grant should be able to experiment with Legacy perks for the rest of the test, which makes it a sensible moment to try builds and combinations you would not commit to on launch day.

None of this changes how Legacy will work when WoW: Forever launches on 4 November 2026. The grant is a beta convenience, and on live servers the points will still have to be earned the slow way. Our Legacy page lists the perks currently in the beta files, so you can plan where those 16 points go before they arrive.
