Blizzard is working on bringing Kyle's questline back to Mulgore in WoW: Forever

Asked whether the Mulgore quest to feed Kyle the runaway dog could return despite arriving after the classic era, Community Manager Kaivax replied: "We're working on it."

Kyle may be coming home. In a forum thread asking for the famous Kyle questline to return to Mulgore, Community Manager Kaivax gave about the shortest confirmation you can give without saying yes outright: Blizzard is working on it.

The thread had been running for a while. Its 31st post is Kaivax answering a player who hoped Blizzard would make an exception for the time frame and put Kyle in:

We’re working on it.

Stay tuned!

That "time frame" point is the whole reason this is a discussion at all. Kyle's quest, where a new Tauren chases down a runaway dog near Bloodhoof Village and feeds him wolf meat, was a later addition from the Burning Crusade era rather than part of the original game. Many players have run it on Tauren characters ever since, and it has stuck around as a small, much loved piece of Mulgore. A classic-style client built around the original content would not include it by default, so bringing it back means Blizzard deliberately reaching outside its usual reference point.

What Kaivax did not say matters as much as what he did. There is no build, no date and no detail on whether Kyle would return exactly as players remember him, with the same quest text and reward, or in some adjusted form. "Working on it" is also not the same as "done": it tells us the request has been heard and taken seriously, not that it is guaranteed for launch on 4 November 2026.

It is still an interesting signal. WoW: Forever is not a strict museum piece, and Blizzard openly entertaining a post-classic addition for the sake of a Tauren starting zone favourite suggests some flexibility about which bits of later history are welcome. A dancing dog is about as harmless as exceptions get, but it is a precedent players will point to the next time they ask for something similar.

We read every beta build, so if Kyle turns up in the Mulgore quest data, it will show on Phylactery.

BetaPhylactery is in beta. Data may be inaccurate or missing while we keep improving it.
